Gulf War presumptive conditions
Presumed service-connected for veterans of the Southwest Asia theater (Aug 2, 1990 - present)
For these conditions, VA does not require a nexus letter. The presumption shortcuts the "in-service event linked to current condition" element of service connection.
Undiagnosed illnesses
Symptoms with no clinical explanation: fatigue, sleep disturbance, joint pain, neurologic, GI, respiratory, skin, cardiovascular signs, weight gain or loss.
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Persistent debilitating fatigue not explained by another diagnosis, with associated impairment.
Fibromyalgia
Widespread musculoskeletal pain with tender points, often paired with stiffness, fatigue, sleep disturbance.
Functional gastrointestinal disorders
IBS, functional dyspepsia, functional constipation, functional abdominal pain syndrome.
Medically unexplained chronic multi-symptom illness (MUCMI)
A diagnosed illness without a conclusive pathophysiology or etiology that is characterized by overlapping symptoms.
