How secondary service connection works
Three things make a secondary claim work.
1. Primary condition
You already have a service-connected disability in place.
2. Secondary diagnosis
You now carry a diagnosis caused or aggravated by that primary disability.
3. Medical nexus
A medical opinion explicitly links the secondary back to the primary, or shows aggravation.
