Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is rated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs under DC 7699-7615 of 38 CFR § 4.116, DC 7615 across 3 severity tiers (50% -- Severe symptoms not controlled by treatment / 30% -- Symptoms requiring continuous treatment / 10% -- Mild symptoms). Service connection requires (1) a current diagnosis, (2) an in-service event, injury, or exposure, and (3) a medical nexus opinion linking the two under 38 C.F.R. § 3.303.
OVERVIEW
Hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges. Affects hormone levels causing irregular periods, excess androgen, and insulin resistance. One of the most common endocrine disorders in women of reproductive age.
RATING CRITERIA (3 LEVELS)
50% -- Severe symptoms not controlled by treatment
Symptoms not controlled by treatment with significant health impairment.
30% -- Symptoms requiring continuous treatment
Requiring continuous treatment.
10% -- Mild symptoms
Symptoms requiring intermittent treatment.
