DC 7615 | 38 C.F.R. § 4.116 | M21-1, Part IV.ii.11
OVERVIEW
PCOS is a hormonal disorder rated under DC 7615 (ovary, disease, injury, or adhesions). Women veterans are the primary affected population. PCOS causes irregular periods, excess androgens, polycystic ovaries, and is associated with insulin resistance, weight gain, and infertility. Stress from military service may trigger or worsen hormonal dysregulation.

C&P EXAM TIPS (4)
1.Women veterans: document onset of menstrual irregularities during service.
2.If PCOS causes infertility, this may qualify for SMC-K ($139.87/mo) for loss of use of a creative organ.
3.Document all associated conditions separately: insulin resistance, acne, hair loss, depression.
4.If you take metformin for insulin resistance, this supports both the PCOS claim and potential diabetes secondary.
DOLLAR IMPACT
PCOS at 30% pays $552.47/mo. Combined with depression (50%), diabetes/insulin resistance (20-40%), potential SMC-K, and endometriosis (10-50%), total compensation can be substantial.
