Uterine Fibroids (Leiomyomas) is rated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs under DC 7613 of 38 CFR § 4.116, DC 7613 across 3 severity tiers (50% -- Severe symptoms not controlled by treatment / 30% -- Symptoms requiring continuous treatment / 10% -- Mild symptoms). Service connection requires (1) a current diagnosis, (2) an in-service event, injury, or exposure, and (3) a medical nexus opinion linking the two under 38 C.F.R. § 3.303.
OVERVIEW
Noncancerous growths of the uterus that often appear during childbearing years. Cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain and pressure, frequent urination, and anemia from blood loss.
RATING CRITERIA (3 LEVELS)
50% -- Severe symptoms not controlled by treatment
Symptoms not controlled by treatment with significant health impairment.
30% -- Symptoms requiring continuous treatment
Requiring continuous treatment.
10% -- Mild symptoms
Symptoms requiring intermittent treatment.
