Common mistakes
- ×Not confirming the transfer was actually completed in the DoD system before filing - if the transfer is not in the system, this application will be denied.
- ×Filing 22-1990e when you have your own earned GI Bill benefits - use 22-1990 if the benefits are your own.
Section II - Sponsor (Service Member) Information

The service member who transferred their GI Bill to you. Include the number of months they transferred (maximum 36 months, but they may have transferred fewer). The sponsor must have at least 6 years of service at time of transfer and agree to additional service in many cases.
