0321 Reconnaissance Man

Formerly: 0321 Reconnaissance Man (unchanged), Recon Marine
The Marine Recon Man conducts amphibious reconnaissance, deep reconnaissance, and direct action missions in small teams behind enemy lines. Training includes BRC (Basic Reconnaissance Course), HRST, combatant diver, and military freefall. Recon Marines operate with extreme physical demands, minimal support, and maximum exposure to combat and environmental hazards.
OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
-Extended swims in open ocean with full combat load (2-4+ miles)
-Long-range patrolling with 80-130+ lbs of equipment for days without resupply
-Diving operations: pressure injuries, cold water immersion, barotrauma
-Military freefall: high-altitude parachute operations with oxygen
-Extreme heat, cold, and altitude exposure during long-duration reconnaissance
-Sustained sleep deprivation during multi-day reconnaissance missions
-High-decibel weapons fire during direct action missions and training

KEY CLAIM TIP
Recon Marines are special operators. Document your BRC graduation, dive qualifications, freefall certifications, and any MARSOC screening/selection. These schools each carry their own injury profiles that strengthen your claim. Buddy statements from team members who witnessed your operational tempo are invaluable.
