QUARTERMASTER CORPS
92Y Unit Supply Specialist
U.S. Army
Equivalent: 3043 (USMC Supply Administration), 2S0X1 (USAF Supply Management)
The 92Y Unit Supply Specialist manages unit-level supply operations including receiving, storing, and issuing equipment, ammunition, and supplies. While categorized as a support MOS, 92Ys deploy to combat zones where they operate supply points, drive convoy vehicles, and face the same environmental hazards as other soldiers. Physical demands include heavy lifting, warehouse operations, and prolonged standing/walking in storage facilities.
OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
-Heavy lifting of equipment, ammunition boxes, and supplies (20-100+ lbs) repeatedly throughout the day
-Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and loading equipment
-Prolonged standing and walking in warehouses and supply rooms
-Driving convoy vehicles during deployments (HMMWV, LMTV) with IED threat
-Loading and unloading supply trucks and shipping containers
-Inventory operations requiring bending, reaching, and climbing
-Burn pit exposure when deployed to FOBs
-Deployment to combat zones with standard combat load during movements and guard duty
SERVICE-CONNECTED CONDITIONS (7 MAPPED)
TYPICAL RATING CONSTELLATION
A 92Y with deployment commonly has: lumbar spine (10-20%), bilateral knee (10% each), shoulder (10%), tinnitus (10%), and possibly PTSD (30%) and flat feet (10%). Combined: 50-70%.
KEY CLAIM TIP
92Y supply specialists often underestimate their claims because they think of themselves as support. Your MOS involves more heavy lifting than most combat arms MOSes. Document your lifting demands, and if you deployed, your convoy operations and indirect fire exposure are valid stressors for PTSD.
